Geocaching tip for c:geo.

Some of you may use Geocaching

As of version 5.5.5, BackCountry Navigator accepts the geo intent.

On some screens of c:geo, there is a star symbol at the top.

This screen in particular, is a cache for which I have coordinates under "Nearby Caches".

If you choose the star symbol, you are given choice of other apps to handle a set of coordinates.

As of 5.5.5, BackCountry Navigator should be one of the choices. It handles a "geo:" protocol for the coordinate, which some apps besides c:geo may also use.

When you go to BackCountry Navigator, you get three options for the coordinates

These are the same options you get when you enter coordinates into the search box.

Choose Center if you just want to center your map on the location. That is probably not all you want to do.

Choose Create Waypoint to save this as a marker on the map. You can still choose to Goto.

Choose Goto to start navigating to the point without putting a marker on the map.

For those who haven't used it, the Goto starts navigation to a fixed point. It allows you to use the compass or map view to find your way and fine tune the location.

I have found it very helpful in finding geocaches.

The use of c:geo isn't the only way to use geocaches. You can import a pocket query in GPX format, and BackCountry Navigator will store the information for a series of geocaches, including the full html description and clues.
