Waypoint label visibility control
Originally from ticket #18273.
While BCN is looking at waypoints and symbols, could you look at the functionality of Waypoint Labels on phone sized screens. Currently have
1 Never
2 <50
3 <200
Option 1 is clean but anonymous, options 2 and 3 fill the screen with unreadable text if you have more than 10 waypoints visible.
More useful values would be
1 Never
2 one label
3 <4 labels
4 <6 labels
5 <10 labels
6 all labels
or something like that

Yes please - would love to see this implemented but perhaps in doubling increments: <5, <10, <20. Also, would love to have an option of "on click only", e.g., label is not shown until you click on an waypoint.

We may consider adding another option to the menu, to make it look something like this:
1 Never
5 < 10 labels
3 < 50 labels
4 < 200 labelsIf the screen has less than 10 waypoints, the labels should be sufficiently readable. If not, just zoom the map in a little.
You can also open the waypoint editor screen for certain waypoints, and shorten their text labels with abbreviations. Or a label can be deleted, if the description icon is enough to tell what it is.

Nice, and as Boyan mentioned, display label on hover would be nice, or position labels to avoid clashes, like in Google Earth.

It would be nice to assign waypoints to specific tracks and display only the waypoints for the track you are currently viewing.

I agree with Dave that having a way to associate the waypoints to specific GPS tracks would really be helpful. I often find it necessary to delete waypoints that end up over-lapping earlier waypoints that were created during another track.
