Add CalTopo "Slope Angle Shading" layer
CompletedOriginally from ticket #9891.
any chance of adding CalTopo's "Slope Angle Shading" layer to Android Backcountry Navigator?
This is a tremendous resource for picking your way through very steep terrain, and also avoiding avalanche-prone slopes.

Agree, this is an awesome layer!

I concur - it's a very useful layer, which I often use for planning backcountry skiing and snowshoeing trips in Colorado's mountains. I would love to have the layer available for use in Backcountry Navigator.
I was able to load the tiles from CalTopo using the "Custom Map Source" mode, but I can't figure out how to combine two datasources: the slope angle shading tiles, and a separate set of tiles as a basemap.
The best combination is the slope angle shading, partially transparent, overlaid on top of the "US Forest Service" maps.

Yes please please please! Add it as an add on overlay so it can be combined with any base map layer. I would happily pay for it. It could really help save lives in avalanche terrain. 0 -
Marking as done.
It is available for Caltopo subscribers. See the menu.

Oh, great! I saw the title of that map layer and assumed it was just standard shadow relief topo shading, and didn't want to subscribe just to find out it wasn't what I needed. It would be helpful with the paid layers and add-ons to have a more detailed description, or a sample image, or a few day trial period, so users could know better about what each map is before purchasing. Thanks!
