I would like to be able to record different tracks on the same map, but in different colors, e.g., one day we took this route marked in red; the next day we tried a different route marked in green.  It would also be helpful to be able change the color of an existing track.

    This is already possible:

    1) Settings menu -> Track Options -> Default Track color

    2) Existing track: Find it in the databases, click on the name to get the Track details, click on the paint bucket at the top of the screen

Help!  I'm not seeing the paint bucket.  Also, if I wanted to have several tracks showing on the same maps (in different colors) how would you suggest going about pulling that off?  thanks, j

Check the overflow menu (three dots or the menu button on your phone) for Color if you have to. Or update the app. That is what I recommend for having different colors on the same map.

The default track color has also been available in settings for some time.

See attached pic for paint bucket.  I'm using the latest version of BCN.

You can pick a color for each track. I always have several tracks in different colors displayed.

Thanks Nathan.  I think I've got some more homework to do.  I cannot get my screen to look like your screen (track detail) and I think it is because I'm not setting up my tracks correctly.  I've never used waypoints at all, and that could be part of the problem too.   I'm fairly certain I have the newest version of BCN at 5.6.6, so it's not the fault of the app or my Samsung Tab2.  It's me.  I'll keep working on it.  You'll think this is stupid, but I really wish there was such a thing as a hardcopy manual.  Silly, I know.

    Setting them up correctly?

From the map screen, click the upper left corner, choose "List Tracks or Waypoints". Is that a place you have been before?

You did that, chose tracks, and chose a particular track, and now you.

I'm getting stumped now. What do you see? Can you post a screenshot?

Thanks Nathan.  Here's what I get when I click on "List Tracks or Waypoints" [attached] from upper left corner of screen.  Since there were no waypoints saved on "Johnson Prairie", I clicked on "tracks".  That essentially brings up a form asking for information.  There's a number there, but nothing else.  The paint bucket doesn't show on either screen. Sorry about the poor image.  I don't know how to capture a screen on my tablet.  jan

What happens when you choose the Tracks tab? The picture shows the Waypoints tab.

Do you believe that you do have tracks defined?

    Hello Nathan--

Sorry to have taken so long to reply.  I'm not sure what it means to "have tracks defined."  I've attached two more screen shots (1) shows a track outlined in red and that I've name Johnson Prairie Rd, (2) show what is there when I click on the "tracks" tab.

And what happens when you choose one of the tracks in the list? In this case, there is only one, but humor me by picking it. Click on the name of the track.

    Here's my process:

Click on 'Trip Data' from top right corner

Click on 'Choose another trip database'

Choose from list under /storage/emulated/0/bcnav/data (right now I see 4 that I've named in that list)

If I choose, e.g., Johnson Prairie, it takes me to a screen saying "load existing trip", where I again click on "choose this trip."

At this point, if I want to see the track on the map, I have to click on the recycle or back-arrow.

but, if I do NOT do the last step, I see a screen that says, "Showing tracks and waypoints from trip database: Johnson prairie."

from there I can click on "johnson prairie has [1] waypoints and [1] tracks.  Click to see them in a list view.  and that takes me to [see-attached].

What I think this is all telling me is that I'm confused about the terminology as regards "trip database" and "tracks", but I don't understand how to do this appropriately.  It sounds like I should have the option of recording different tracks (then "defining them"??) to the same "trip database".  I think if I could figure this out, then I'd probably start to see the paint bucket.

    thanks, jan

A trip database is NOT a track. a trip database CONTAINS tracks and waypoints.  What could we do to make this clear? I realize people are scared of the word database. What word could we use?

Yes, you can record multiple tracks in a trip database. Please forget I said the word defined.

Back to my question. The screen you just posted. On the left there is a list of tracks with one track in it, right? What happens when you choose one? In the upper left, there is a red line with numbers above it. Touch it with your finger. What happens?
