following a track: navigation alerts.

I do a lot of backcountry trail running. As long as the trail is well-defined, or doesn't intersect another trail, I know just what to do, keep following the trail. It's in situations where the trail peters out, or there's an intersection, and I can't remember if or which way I'm supposed to turn. So I actually have two different use cases.

    1) Have BCNav set to alert me if I get outside an envelope that is X ft wide around the track I'm following.

1a) This is useful for cases where a trail peters out, and I want to stay roughly on course with my planned route

1b) A simple audio/vibration alert with a voice prompt, "You are off course" would be sufficient, including information about a bearing to get back on course would be even better.

    2) Have BCNav alert me of an upcoming trail intersection, and what to do there

2a) I'm willing to do the leg-work of setting up a custom waypoint, or whatever it takes, as long as I can do it in KML or GPX using a desktop app as well as on my device.

2b) I'd want an audio and/or vibration alert, followed by TTS readout of a short, custom message for that waypoint. (An example message might be, "Take second trail to the left and head southeast"

2c) I'd want to group these "turn-by-turn waypoints" as a "bundle" of all the waypoints that apply to a given course I'm running, and be able to enable alerting for the whole group with a single action.

Yes, this would be a great feature. There are many times where there are numerous trails and it would be great if an alarm could sound if I'm off course by 50 m or so.

Happened to me yesterday ! I took the wrong trail for about 0.5 km ! Yes, I should have checked with the phone, but I was pretty sure of it. I guess not so ! An alert could have saved me an extra 1 km of hiking.  Please implement !!

I've been using Backcountry Navigator worldwide (Germany, New Zealand, Tasmania, Seychelles, Costa Rica, ...) for years now. On Saturday I participated in an organized long distance walk (55 km) for the first time. For this walk there was a GPX track provided which I imported into Backcountry Navigator. During the walk there were two areas where having a 'track geofence' or 'off-track warning' would have spared me walking a few extra kilometers. So I definitely second that feature request.
