What is the total size of the bcnav folder (you can check in a file explorer)?

This Razr HD is not freezing so far.

bcnav folder in internal memory (I see why the card doesn't matter now)

I have Accuterra maps, BLM boundaries and California deer zones installed

    242 MB

What area are you viewing in case it makes a difference?

Mostly west of Honeydew, CA in the King Range Wildlife area. Searching for good hunting spots and trails...

After this mornings freeze I uninstalled and reinstalled.

I have not been able to reproduce the freeze since reinstall, seems to work flawlessly now.

Sorry, everyone, I am having no luck.

I've spent a whole day with a Droid RAzr HD with 4.1.2 - again.

    No freezes, no problems.

I'm usually happy when the app doesn't freeze, but not today.

For me to ever fix this, I might need someone with a device that is failing to be near Portland, OR. Or in Boston, MA next week.

My Razr Max HD freezes nearly every time I use it.  I use mytopo.com and usgs aerials.  I just opened it to see how to spell aerials right and it froze within 3 seconds.  Maps are stored on my SD card.  Please help.  This sucks.  Almost worth it to ship you my phone so you can see it.  I'd be happy to get on a phone call with you and talk to you about settings and other things as I'm trying to make it freeze if that would help.  Could face time so you can watch or whatever.  Let me know.

My Razr HD (not Maxx) behaves as described above.  I have not tried to reinstall, but will do that next.  I wanted to try and send a report via email, and tried volup+voldown+power.    Running 4.1.2 OS, BNP version 4.9.4.   I have installed Accuterra Single Layer on my external SD card, and it freezes at random times during scrolling of map.  There is a "Developer Options' page in setup.  Has that been explored as a possible debug aid?

PS.  I have installed Accuterra as a map package.

I have been away for a week at a conference. I have consulted with many experts, but sadly, no officials from Motorola were there.

I am not sure what you mean by "install Accuterrs as a map package". Using Map Packages is a choice you make when you start a download, and when you view it afterward.

It would help me very much to know if anyone knows, with absolute certainty, that they were viewing a map package at the time a failure occurs. If you are viewing a map package, your layers screen looks something like this:

As for Developer Options, some that might help are:

    • Power menu bug reports
    • Show all ANRs

Not all phones will have them.

Nathan - my layers screen looks exactly like the above with the except for the message just below the 'Select Areas for Download' button: mine reads: "Showing tracks and waypoints from trip" - \n "default".  I did set the Map Package up at download time as you described.  I can say with certainty that I have observed the problem while using a map package because I have been using that map package since I installed the software, and to my knowledge it is the only data source on my phone, and it is no longer downloading via wireless network.

So that screen shows "Preview not available in a map package" as above?

And below "Map Package" it does not say "Main Tile Cache", but instead a name that you have previously chosen?

    Yes on both counts.

I must report that presently I am having difficulty getting BNP to freeze.  The only change I made since the last freeze was I turned on the developer ANR option.

My Droid Razr Hd froze just after pressing zoom in icon, at zoom level 15.  Using Map Package, as before.

As soon as possible, I will start sending out experimental builds of the app to afflicted users. I don't see other ways that I will track down the problem.

Another possible clue.  My screen freezes up very infrequently.  This evening when it happened all of the waypoints disappeared from the screen.  I was scrolling, but may have tapped the screen.  I was viewing a map package created from CalTopo 24K, and a trip database other than the default.

This is a DROID RAZR MAXX HD running ICS 4.1.2.  BCN Version 4.9.9.  Holding power OFF and Volume Down cleared the freeze.

Any luck with a fix for this? I'd be happy to try an experimental build. Please help!

Hopefully I am not speaking to soon, but after the latest did system update for the RAZR HD I received this morning bcnav has not locked up.

I got a Razr HD last week. Haven't broken it yet. I'll keep trying.

I've had several people tell me that this or that fixed it, but no solid proof yet.

The Razr HD update does say "Random power cycles and resets have been mitigated".

There might be a random chance that it fixes our random problems.

After the system update to 9.18.79 and update to latest BNP to 5.0.4 on Razr HD, I experienced a freeze while scrolling at zoom 15 using Acuterra Single Layer in Main Tile Cache preview disabled. The odd thing is I experienced the same thing while scrolling in the newest Google Maps upgrade (7.) before the system update.    I did notice that when it froze, a portion of the screen had not completed updating the map image, as though there were a network error.     I had a scare - the screen went blank before I got to the reset sequence, and thinking it had powered itself off I pressed and held the power button, and nothing happened.  I then reset with a blank screen.

Still having no luck on breaking the Razr HD that I have. It did install the updates.

Does this happen when you are scrolling really fast or anything like that?

As easy as you've all said this is to break, you'd think I'd have broken it by now. I hope I didn't spend money on this for nothing.

Nathan I really appreciate that you went out of your way to buy a phone just to try and figure this problem out for us. your willingness and effort to try and make a perfect product for the majority really shows. I still have yet to make my phone break since the update. normally it would be strolling slowly trying to follow a trail when It would stop working.

Thanks for still trying.  I have the update and mine still freezes all the time.  I have nearly 6 gigs of maps on my sd card not in map packages.  Use mytopo.com, and usgs color aerials.  Preview off.  I've tried changing nearly every setting available but it still freezes.  Sometimes it freezes right away, other times it takes a few minutes.

    Thanks

Tjkyhl, Is this on your actual Sd Card, not internal storage, meaning you used changed the "Storage Root" setting to use it?

    Yes, correct.

Mine is frozen right now. Any way I can help? Can I email you something or do something over the phone to help you?
