Storage Card renamed on 6.0.1 update on some Samsung Devices.

For no reason that I can tell other than to break innocent apps, apparently Android has decided to rename a storage location in some of its 6.0.1 updates. This was first discovered on some Samsung devices but has happened to many.

I only found out about it from people who were experiencing unexpected problems after a 6.0.1 update, where they are using BCN with an external storage card.

Please note, if you are using defaults on BCN and haven't used an external storage card, do not read any further.

If, after a firmware update, you are experiencing a complete failure to record tracks, store waypoints, preview or download new maps, here is something to try.

Go to settings in the BCN Menu. Choose Storage Options, then Storage Root (advanced).

You may see something like this:

Up above, under Current, is the long winded but fairly standard storage path we could use before.

With the Android 6.0.1 update, Samsung decided to change "extSDCard" to "3264-3130" in this example. What was wrong with the old name? I don't know.

The right thing to do here is to choose our suggestion that is circled and then choose Save.

It might be back to normal after that, although you may need to power off your device and restart it just to be sure.
