Seeing Version and Updating.

To verify a version. 

On the home screen of your device, get to menu, choose Settings.

Then choose Applications.

Then choose Manage Applications. 

(2.3 devices have a menu item called "Manage Apps", which is faster.)

Look for BackCountry Navigator.

Choose it and look at the top for a version number. 

To see if there is an update, go to the Android Market. 

Look for My Apps.

Look for BackCountry Navigator and see if it says update. 

You will generally get notifications on your phone about app updates periodically. After a while, though, you get so many that you probably ignore them. 

Please note that the above procedure for checking for updates will *not* work if you bought somewhere other than Android Market.

If you are not able to update via this method, there are two common causes:

• You are using a different Google account than the one you bought with. See the Android Market help on this. http://www.google.com/support/androidmarket/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=113410&topic=1100168
• You bought the software at Amazon or somewhere else. Search your memory to see if this the case. If you bought at Amazon, you must get your updates through the Amazon store.

Q. Why might the version at Amazon be not as recent as the one I see on the Android Market? 

A. Amazon is like Apple. They review all updates manually. This can be 2-5 working days for them in normal times. If they have questions or have objections, it can be longer.  

Q. What if getting that update 2-5 days later is not acceptable to me?

A. Don't buy at Amazon.
